Assessments and Certificates

For your new build, alteration or extension, do you need an experienced assessor in your project team to help you achieve the energy efficiency requiremens to comply with the National Construction Code (NCC).

· A home that is warm in winter and cool in summer

· Achieves net zero carbon

· Can cost very little to run

The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS), using accredited home energy rating software, is the most common method used to determine compliance with the NCC.

In Tasmania, the current minimum NatHERS requirement is a 6-star energy efficiency rating. While the majority of mainland Australia, has adopted the 7-star and whole-of-home rating on all new dwellings.

Aspire are highly experienced in the new NCC (2022) provisions, 7-star and whole-of-home rating, and fully equipped to support the needs of all clients working with the new requirements.

Aspire Sustainability are accredited NatHERS assessors, offering nationally recognised NatHERS and Whole-of-Home assessments and certificates for new homes, alterations and additions.  There are two options for this service – please refer to the information following.

OPTION ONE - Net zero home and beyond

A Net Zero Home is one that has specific design features and brings you multiple benefits over the life of your home, in addition to both meeting requirements of the NCC and having stronger environmental credentials.  Aspire aims to help you not just meet, but exceed, the minimum required energy efficiency standard for your new build.

Our Net Zero Home consultation includes a range of assessments, including but not limited to;

· Concept stage energy rating

· Assessing the key elements of passive solar design necessary for high performance

· Advise on optimising the thermal building shells (design, orientation, insulation, windows, ventilation)

· Advise on whole-of-home energy efficient appliance selection

· Renewable energy estimates, renewable energy practicalities (EV charging + home batteries)

·

OPTION TWO - NatHERS for minimum NCC compliance

If you are needing a NatHERS certificate simply for compliance, Aspire are highly experienced, fully accredited NatHERS assessors and can undertake all NCC energy efficiency compliance requirements.   We will model house plans to determine the ‘as designed’ star rating and provide feedback and informed advice to help you achieve minimum compliance.

We use accredited home energy modelling software for new buildings, alterations and additions, and can also provide advice on alternate methods of complying with the NCC.

Our assessors can also assist in collating documentation required for building approvals, including NatHERS Certificates and stamped drawings.
